I am thinking of what the “beautiful “is all about. I mean on some net articles it is a lady to whom a man is saying goodbye.
But, I have long been believing it as something ideal such as peaceful world, beautiful nature. So in the song, “they” who are painting deadman faces red should be some powered people who use war and destroy nature. Anyway sorry this could be my misunderstanding.
